I have a number of development machines on my end. There’s a machine I usually use for OSX/iOS development, and a Windows machine for other development tasks. One would wonder, would it be great if I can access these machines at the same time?
There are a number of options that can be done. For one, you can connect to the OSX machine through VNC. An issue that I have is that one of my laptops is connected to an external monitor, and I would rather use the mac’s screen to do work there rather than work on the same monitor and shift between applications.
A great way to use this is to use a program called synergy by symless. It is basically a paid program with a free trial. Earlier versions of the software though is open source.
The picture above shows how it looks like on one of my workspaces in the basement (rough setup because of the lockdown):
If you don’t have the funds to purchase the software, you can download the sources and binaries of the last open source version at this repository:
Don’t download the 1.88 version of the binaries, as OSX Catalina have problems with it.
